Elite Facilities. Superior Care

Welcome Britt

14 Apr 2016

Recover Sports Medicine is excited to announce that Senior Administrator, Brittany Cogger, has officially made the move from the reception desk and onto the clinic floor as a practitioner! We would now like to introduce you all to our newest Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Britt.

Following a passion for all sports at a young age, Britt completed an undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University, majoring in Exercise Physiology. From there, she moved into her Masters of Clinical Exercise Science and Rehabilitation at Victoria University. Here is where Britt developed a love for biomechanics, how the human body produces movement, and return to play for athletes at the end stage of rehabilitation. Britt has since furthered her study, completing a Clinical Pilates Qualification and a Level 1 Strength and Conditioning accreditation.

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are allied health professionals, providing exercise and lifestyle therapies for the prevention and management of chronic disease, injury and disability, differentiating them significantly from Personal Trainers. AEPs provide support for clients with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, mental health problems, cancer, arthritis, pulmonary disease and a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries.

A session with an AEP goes for 60 minutes, with the initial appointment including a comprehensive assessment of your injury and condition, and subsequent review sessions including exercise interventions either as a home based or gym based exercise program. Clinical Pilates may also be incorporated in your session if needed.

Britt is still also Recover Sports Medicine’s BioMotion Lab Technician. The BioMotion is a state of the art centre, of which our Richmond clinic houses the only one in the southern hemisphere. Currently used by a number of elite clubs in Australia, this system can be used as a screening tool, a return to play measure or to determine a player’s biomechanical changes following injury. It is particularly useful in the analysis and management of hip impingement, hamstring strains and overuse/repetitive trauma injuries.

We congratulate Britt on taking the next step in her career and are excited to have her as a valued member of our Practitioner team.

If you would like to see Britt for an Exercise Physiology appointment, Clinical Pilates appointment or a BioMotion analysis, please call us on 1300 858 774 or email contact@recoversportsmed.com.au to make an appointment.
