Dietetics & Nutrition

A Dietitian is a health professional with specialised training in dietetics - the study of human nutrition and the regulation of diet. Dietitians advise individuals about what to eat in order to lead a healthy lifestyle or achieve a specific health-related goal.

An Accredited Practicing Dietitian requires a masters level tertiary qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics. This extensive training ensures a specialist level of knowledge of food and its effects on the body.

Sport Specific Meal Plans

No other health professional has the training, knowledge and expertise required to provide complete nutritional support for medical conditions, weight management and sports performance.

Who can benefit from seeing a dietitian?

Dietitians have the clinical training to modify diets to treat or help manage conditions such as:

  • Diabetes
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Overweight and obesity
  • Food allergies and intolerances.

A Dietitian can empower the individual to make positive changes in all aspects of a healthy lifestyle and help achieve and then maintain a healthy weight.

This process may include the following:

  • An identification of the individual’s weight and lifestyle goals
  • Accurate scientific assessment of current weight, body composition, nutritional status and a comprehensive assessment of the individuals current diet
  • Investigation of possible food intolerances
  • Calculation of micro and macro nutrient requirements in relation to weight, physical activity and personal goals
  • Practical modifications and strategies to reach health and wellbeing goals
  • Individually tailored, nutritionally complete meal plans
  • Specialist advice on the use of nutritional supplements, meal replacements, cleanses and other popular weight loss methods
  • Education regarding reading and understanding the nutritional information panel on all food products
  • Ongoing support and monitoring of progress
