Profile

Doctor Tim Wood is a specialist Sports Physician consulting in Melbourne out of Recover Sports Medicine Richmond, in addition to private practice in Hawthorn and Ocean Grove, Victoria.

Dr Wood has been a sports physician for over 20 years. Having completed his medical degree in Bristol, UK Tim undertook his specialist postgraduate studies in the field of sport and exercise medicine in both Australia and the United Kingdom. He provides consultancy services to a number of elite athletes, teams and organisations. This has included Geelong AFL premiership teams, the AFL draft camp, Melbourne Rebels and Wallabies, Richmond Football Club, and Tennis Australia.

Dr Wood sees a broad range of sporting and non-sporting injuries affecting all parts of the body. He has a particular interest in acute sports injuries. Through his sixteen year involvement at the Australian Open and Tennis Australia, he has expertise in managing tennis injuries. He also sees injuries involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand, the spine including neck and lower back, hips, groin, knee, shin, ankle and foot. Finally Dr Wood can assist those individuals with chronic conditions, e.g. diabetes, asthma, or osteoarthritis, who wish to engage in an exercise program.

All these therapies & treatments are not restricted to elite athletes and can be accessed by sports people at any level and people not in sport with general musculoskeletal disorders. Dr Wood is available by appointment and a GP referral, although not essential, is recommended.
